Your reading data
Privacy notice
Your reading library starts on your device. Online book search, optional iCloud backups and information you choose to share have separate data flows.
Who is responsible
Le Mulot Lecture is operated by Simon Rimbert as an individual, under the OakenHouse name. For privacy questions or requests, contact oakenhouse218@gmail.com.
What stays on your device
Your local library contains books, authors, reading status and dates, notes, ratings, tags, categories and reading sessions. Appearance settings, import history and retained original source information are also stored locally. Recovery keeps files and previous local libraries so an interrupted restore can be resumed and the earlier library reviewed.
These records support the reading and recovery features you use. A local library does not require a Lecture account. The initial native release does not connect to the earlier hosted account-library service. Lecture includes no advertising or third-party analytics service, and does not automatically send your library to the developer.
Book search and cover images
Searching the catalog sends your search terms, such as a title, author or ISBN, to Open Library. Requests may also include a preferred language. Open Library receives the network information needed for the request, including your IP address. Your library credentials and personal notes are not included in catalog searches.
Online cover images load from their source websites, including Open Library. A cover provider receives your IP address and the requested image address. Cover addresses retained from an import or entered by you can point to other providers. You can use manual book entry without catalog search. Read the Internet Archive privacy policy for Open Library’s provider practices.
Optional private iCloud backup
If you enable iCloud backup for a library, Lecture sends complete backup copies and their recovery metadata to your private iCloud database using Apple’s CloudKit service. These copies can include personal notes and retained import/source information. This is separate from a developer-operated library server or a public library.
Lecture checks iCloud availability and uses an account-specific identifier to keep backup operations associated with the selected account. Apple handles iCloud account and service data under its privacy policy. Private database storage counts toward your iCloud storage.
You can turn automatic backup off in Backups & recovery. This stops future automatic backup scheduling; it does not erase saved copies, and an upload already sent may still finish. This version does not automatically expire saved cloud generations or provide a per-backup cloud deletion control. For account storage controls, consult Apple’s iCloud settings and support. Keep an independent file backup: second-device recovery is still being validated for the initial release.
Files, exports and local retention
When you export reading entries or a complete backup, you choose the destination in the system share sheet. Recipients and storage services then handle that copy under their own terms. Complete backups can contain your notes and original imported information. Online cover images and account sign-in credentials are not packaged in them.
Local libraries and retained recovery copies do not have an automatic expiry period. Removing or editing something in the current library does not erase older recovery copies or exported files. Deleting the app through iOS can remove its local files; offloading preserves app data. Device backups and files already saved elsewhere must be managed separately. Save a verified complete copy before uninstalling if you want to keep your library.
Contacting support
Contacting support is optional. If you email us, your email address, sender name if present, message and attachments you select are received through Gmail (Google). They are used to respond to your request and investigate the problem you report. Without a return address and a description, we may be unable to reply or resolve the issue.
No books, notes or account details are attached automatically by Lecture’s feedback action. Start with a description, and avoid sending a personal library unless it is necessary and you intend to share it.
Simon Rimbert handles support. Messages may be forwarded to another Gmail inbox controlled by the same operator so they can be handled in one place. Correspondence is used only to answer support and privacy requests and troubleshoot reported problems, based on the operator’s legitimate interest in supporting the app. It is not used for advertising or marketing. We keep support emails, including attachments within those emails, for up to 12 months after the request is resolved. This period applies to the support mailbox, forwarded copies and replies. Separately downloaded attachments are deleted within 30 days after resolution.
Google provides the mailbox service under its privacy policy. Provider processing may occur outside your country, including outside the European Economic Area; the provider notice describes its processing and transfer safeguards.
This website
These support pages are hosted on GitHub Pages. The pages contain no analytics scripts, advertising, tracking pixels, forms or embedded third-party media. GitHub processes technical request information, including IP addresses, to provide and secure hosting. Its privacy statement explains retention, rights and international transfers for that processing. Following an external link connects you to that provider’s site.
Your choices and rights
For personal information received by support, email the address above to request access, correction, erasure or restriction. You can object to processing based on legitimate interests; portability applies where its legal conditions are met. Requests are assessed under applicable law. Support cannot remotely inspect or recover a library held only on your device.
You may complain to your local data protection authority. In France, you can contact the CNIL. If this notice changes, its date will be updated here.
