A street did not light up

Le Mulot covers the named Paris streets in its bundled dataset. Some paths, stairs and passages are not included. Check that “Record my walks” is on in Settings. In Le Mulot’s iOS settings, check location access, Precise Location and motion permission. For background walks, allow Always access when iOS offers it, or check the permission in Settings.

Open Le Mulot at least once after installation. If you force-quit the app, reopen it before your next walk. GPS reception, permissions and iOS limits can affect recording. A single GPS point on a street does not necessarily mark it as walked.

Pause recording

Turn off “Record my walks” in Settings. Your existing history stays available. Press and hold the Le Mulot Home Screen icon for the pause or resume action. It opens the app and uses the same setting; it does not override iOS permissions.

Character and app icon

The in-app character and Home Screen icon are separate choices in Settings. Changing the icon does not automatically change the character. The Origami and Jardin designs and all twelve palettes remain independent of these choices. Design, palette, mascot and Home Screen icon each have their own page, reached directly from Settings.

Revisit a day

Open the Journal and tap a day. Its recorded segments appear on the map. The return buttons take you back to the Journal or the current map. Older data cannot reconstruct revisits that were never dated.

Backups and recovery

In Settings, open Backups and recovery and export a complete backup of your history and settings. Save it somewhere you can reach from another device, then check that you can find the file. Choose a backup to preview its contents before confirming.

On an empty installation, a complete recovery restores history, supported settings and the Home Screen icon choice. If history is already present, records are merged and current settings are kept. iOS permissions must be granted separately. Older history-only JSON remains supported; it does not contain the same settings. Historical identifiers may still say “Warmer” for compatibility.

If recovery is interrupted, reopen Le Mulot and use the saved recovery controls. Retry the icon change or keep the current icon. If a saved restore cannot be read, you can explicitly keep the current history and settings; the unfinished recovery files remain on the phone. Save the copy from before restoring somewhere safe. Do not uninstall the app to clear a recovery message.

You can also enable private iCloud backups in Backups and recovery. They run while Le Mulot is open and show a verified-copy status after readback. Browse saved backups to choose a copy and review it before restoring. Turning backup off keeps existing copies. Keep an independent file backup; never uninstall to troubleshoot a recovery message.

Describe a problem

Include the Le Mulot version shown in Settings, your iPhone model, iOS version, language, selected design, palette and character and steps to reproduce the problem. For recording issues, include the approximate time and whether your phone was locked. You can attach a screenshot or, if useful, share the log from Settings → Diagnostics. Avoid unrelated private notes or places.

The Apple basemap may need a connection. Le Mulot’s street data and history are stored locally. The in-app guide also explains the app’s features.
